Energy Rebates and Tax Credits on HVAC Products

Purchasing energy-efficient products and renewable energy systems for homes is now more affordable due to current federal and state tax credits and energy rebates. Comfort Services of Columbia, SC, offers several models of products qualifying for rebates, including heating, ventilating and air conditioning products and solar energy systems.

President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in February 2009, expanding tax credits for homeowners purchasing specific energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment nationwide. Homeowners can access credits totaling $1,500 on the purchase of qualifying equipment they purchase and install between the dates January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

Additional energy rebates on the state level are available to South Carolina taxpayers, who have the opportunity to claim a credit of 25% of purchase and installation costs for solar energy systems or small hydropower systems. The maximum South Carolina state credit available in any one tax year is $3,500 for each facility, or 50% of the taxpayer’s tax liability for that taxable year, whichever amount is less.

According to Todd Wagstaff, President, Comfort Services accommodates the needs of homeowners interested in taking advantage of energy rebates. The locally-owned company offers a wide-range of models falling under the tax credit, including high-efficiency home comfort systems that meet the minimum ratings for energy-efficiency as stipulated in the government’s economic stimulus bill.

“Comfort Services’ expert technicians are available to help customers choose the right products to create an ideal home comfort system,” said Wagstaff. “Not only do we offer products that qualify for state and federal energy rebates, but these systems will bring financial relief to customers for months and years to come as they pay less for monthly energy bills while enjoying a more comfortable home.”
